Lent 2022

Lent refers to the 40 days between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday. For centuries it has been a time to stop and slow down by surrendering & fasting. This year we’ll be exploring ‘My Father’s Heart’, journeying through the Lord’s prayer.

Ash Wednesday 2nd March

8pm / 1hr 20min / Onsite & Online / A quiet, reflective space as we mark the beginning of Lent, where we recognise our humanity, confess where we have fallen short, and choose again to step into the freedom Christ brings. Christians around the world mark their foreheads with ash as a physical act of repentance and turning back to the Lord.

Lent Prayers (over 5 weeks)

Join us as we seek the Father Heart of God through the words of the Lord’s prayer.

Tuesdays / 7.30-8.00am on Zoom / Prayer & worship

Wednesdays

9.00-9.30am onsite / Prayer & worship

3.00-3.15pm onsite / A quiet space for personal prayer

Thursdays / 8.00-9.00pm onsite / A time to seek our Father’s heart through prayer, worship and Scripture.

Prayer walking: Praying the Father Heart of God over the streets of the city.

As we partner with Arise Sheffield* in prayer walking our streets during Lent, why not pick a time in each week to pray for the following and then record where you have walked on the Arise Sheffield app.

Week 1 – Outside your home

Week 2 – In your neighbourhood

Week 3 – In an area close to your heart

Week 4 – In the church plant areas (Fir Vale and Stannington)

Week 5 – In the centre of Sheffield (whole church event) / Thursday 7th April from 8pm (meeting point tbc)

*What is Arise Sheffield 2022?Last year, over 1,000 followers of Jesus from nearly 150 churches rose up to prayer-walk every street in Sheffield. We know God hasn’t finished with our city just yet. From 1-31 March 2022, we will Arise to prayer-walk and bring joy to our communities.

What’s involved? Three things:

  • Prayer – praying for our streets

  • Share – feeling emboldened to share our faith friends, neighbours and colleagues.

  • Care – find a neighbour or colleague to connect with more deeply.

Prayer: All good things start with prayer. Using the Arise prayer-walking app, we will set our city aglow with prayer. Mark your prayer-walk route on the app and watch the streets of Sheffield glow brighter with every blessing.
