Prayer

Prayer lies at the heart of our relationship with God and so it is also at the heart of all that we do as a church community.

Here are four key ways you can get involved in prayer in the life of this church. They are:

Daily Prayers

Gatherings

We gather for prayers every weekday at 9am (30 minutes, Mon-Fri in the Worship Area) and 3pm (20 minutes, Mon-Thu on the Gallery).

Of course, we can pray as individuals wherever we are and at any time, but the Crookes church building is open during the week, and particularly at the above times, as a ‘place for space’. These prayer times are all open to anyone, so if you’re around, whether as a one-off or on a regular basis, please come and join us. You will be very welcome!

NB during the summer, 9am prayers move to the Gallery for 20 minutes and there are no 3pm prayers.

Emails

We send out an email every week with some prayer points, so that even if you can’t join us in person, you can still join the church family in prayer! Click here to sign up to receive these emails.

Prayer Cards

We use four kinds of prayer cards at St Thomas Crookes to share prayer requests, thanksgivings and prophetic insights with one another.

The four cards are:

  • Healing Prayer Request – green
  • General Prayer Request – yellow
  • Testimony/Thanksgiving – orange
  • Prophecy – pink (read by the staff to share as appropriate)

You can find these cards in the reception/Link area – just fill one in and hand it in to reception.  You can also email a prayer request, testimony, or prophecy to [email protected]. Please include your name and your cluster or church if you are in one.

Prayer Gatherings

Twice a year, in the autumn and winter terms, we hold a Day of Prayer, where we worship God and pray for the church and each other. This begins with 7am prayers, includes prayer times throughout the day (with regular email updates for those who wish to join us from home/work etc) and culminates in an evening gathering from 8pm to 10pm.  Look out for news about upcoming prayer events on our calendar or in church.  There’s also a Night of Prayer in the spring term.

Prayer Points

We really value your prayer for things that are happening in the life of the church. What we do as a church is affected by the prayer that accompanies it, so please:

  • Pray for events mentioned in the Sunday bulletin or on the church website.
  • Ask your cell/cluster leaders what to pray for.
  • Pray in your cell group for the work of the church.
  • Sign up for Foundations emails – you will receive an email at 3pm every weekday which includes three prayer points.

Thank you for praying!
