Welcome to Monday’s podcast. My name is Andy Rushworth.

Our reading today is Eph 6: 8-24

We’re going to focus on verses 10 & 11, but I encourage you to read the rest of the passage sometime today.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

We live in a broken world where, unfortunately, there are those who will try to cook up some scheme to take advantage of you.

Get rich schemes that only drain you of any money that you have and trust.

Get fit schemes that will cost you a gym membership or the price of a DVD and special food packages and weeks later you haven’t dropped a dress size and your self-esteem is even lower that it was.

What about those who have fallen for property scams… paying large deposits for a Villa to be built in a warm country, only to find out that it doesn’t exist.

In the same way that we need to be wise about corrupt schemes, we also need to be wise about the devil’s schemes when it comes to Christ’s Church and his disciples.

There is a constant battle taking place… The devil hates disciples and the church and he will always cook up a scheme to try and trick you into being a dysfunctional disciple and to ignore Christ’s church.

You have too much on today to read the Bible…
You can’t afford to give financially to your local church…
Prayer never changes anything… God isn’t even listening…

The devil will try any scheme he can to keep you from believing in Jesus and his church… in fact if he can’t trick you into not believing in Jesus, he will try and trick you to become an unbelieving believer.

This day… be aware of the devil’s schemes by being aware and confident in who God has called you to be… a mighty man or woman of God!

Father God, we choose this day to be strong and wise in you. May we accomplish all you have planned for us as we put on your full armour.

In Jesus name, Amen

…because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.

And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favouritism with him.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing. I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you.

Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
