Thanking God for People

James Brown and Rich Goodman get our October theme of Thanksgiving under way at the Evening Gathering by looking through this passage from Philemon, with a particular focus on what it means to thank God for the people in our lives.

Bible base: Philemon 1:4-5

Cell group questions

  1. What associations do you have about friendship right now?
  2. How easy or hard do we find it to give thanks or pray for the people in our lives?
  3. From reading the first few verses of the book of Philemon we begin to understand that Paul and he are clearly friends: friends who are not afraid to ask the tough questions of one another. Do our friendships look anything like this?

Can we think of any habits that may help us grow in giving thanks for people in our lives? Consider adopting one or two of these ideas.
